Hi Jo Would love to go to

Hi Jo
Would love to go to Italy one day soon I hope but as I am travelling to USA and Canada in August (2011) was planning to do Europe maybe next year. I hope you will be going then. You're an inspiration to solo travellers.
Cheers
Mary

Hey there, Verona is a very

Hey there, Verona is a very lovely city in Italy. I believe that the Opera will be held in the Arena - which I went to see on a recent visit - absolutely amazing ! I can only imagine how magnificant the operatic show would be from the Arena! Unfortanately, I am unable to travel this time but it's something you do every year, I may be interested next year!

Of course Verona is also famous for Romeo and Guillietta (Juliet), and you can visit her house and tombstone!

Hi Jo, I shouldn't really -am

Hi Jo,
I shouldn't really -am saving up for a winter getaway, but you have got me tempted! What the heck -you only live once...Can you let me know how you are getting there, what hotel, and cost of opera ticket etc.?Have always wanted to see Lake Garda and open air opera is icing on the cake.
Kind regards, Anita

Hello Anita, Yes, tempting

Hello Anita,
Yes, tempting isnt it? You would not regret it I can assure you of that. I travel with Ryanair from Stansted to Verona, then taxi to the Lake staying at the Gardesana Hotel in Torri del Benaco, and ticket for La Traviata is about 90 euros on the stone steps. Its dearer on the floor at the front of the arena but accoustically its better on the steps anyway and the view is better. If you use the web have a look at the hotel. Its simply gorgeous and lovely people there.
Have a good think. Best regards Jo.

Hi Jo, Unfortunately, after

Hi Jo,
Unfortunately, after research, it's looking a bit expensive for me. The hotel is quite costly -only available room now is 120E a night with booking.com.(Single occupancy of double). Unless you know how I can get it cheaper (package??), it's a no-go for me. :+( xxAnita

Jo, that sounds wonderful, I

Jo, that sounds wonderful, I went to see Carmen in Verona 3 years ago. I completed a rail trip with my daughter (8yrs) we traveled by train from Venice, Verona to Milan. It was wonderful. Enjoy i know I did!!

Hello Kath, Isnt it wonderful

Hello Kath,
Isnt it wonderful to be in the arena, even if you are not really an opera fan. Such a sense of occasion. My husband and I went every year for more than 20 years and then he died 3 years ago almost, but I really could not imagine that I would never go again so I went alone last year and will this year, unless I find someone to go with. Never mind, better than sitting at home living on wonderful memories. Italy is the place for me, wherever, whenever.
Kind wishes, Jo.

would be nice but need more

would be nice but need more notice think of me for next year
