What's the most beautiful place you've ever been to ?

I'm curious what's the first thing that pops into your mind, as I imagine most people could write down a whole list.
For me the first thing that came into my mind was a wild beach somewhere on Islay outer Hebridies, on a sunny day looks stunning. Where have you left your heart ?

The Grand Canyon awsomme and Santa Barbara where i could happily retire to if i could afford it. Went to both places on a road trip this yr with two other Thelma and Louise ladies. Santa Barbara is very pretty with an affluent mediteranion feel and the souther Californians so friendly and the Grand Canyon word cant explain how beautiful and stunning it was , as soon as you set eyes on the vista it takes your breath away

Hi, Agree with you Chris about the Grand Canyon it is the most peaceful and awesome place - the television and films etc don't do it justice, you have to be there... ln fact took some of my late partner's ashes there - don't want to be morbid but he always wanted to visit and we had booked the holiday there - but alas he ran out of time.
You are right Ana l expect we all have our 'lists' but feel lucky to have seen quite a lot on mine....and hopefully able to continue !

Hi Val. the Grand Canyon is always somewhere I've longed to go. Maybe one day. It's good to hear from others how wonderful a place it is and one of natural beauty. One of my precious moments was taking in the silence and breathtaking view at the top of Mont Blanc! fabulous! Incidentally, I didn't think it morbid at all you saying you took your late husbands ashes there. I do a similar thing, albeit some might find this bizarre... My late husband died aged 41. Myself, his mum and sister divided his ashes into 41 little boxes and wherever we travel to, home and abroad, a small piece of him travels too. His ashes are as far as Australia and as near to me as the Pilgrims Walk in he South Downs .....funny old life ain't it! Liesa x

Hi Leisa,
l don't think that's bizarre but a lovely thing to do and very ingenious, l wish l had thought of that. Mine is at the G Canyon , in the middle of the English Channel in a whisky bottle ( without whisky) ! and under a rose bush in my garden which is growing well....Gosh we might have started another topic.....

For me its Norway, the scenery there is just breathtaking, literally.
I have heard that it is officially known as the most beautiful scenery in the world.
This is hard and I have seen the Grand Canyon, Great Wall of China etc etc but I put these in other categories!!
This makes it easier for me to choose! lol

@Jacqueline Norway is at the top of my list and now I want to go at the top of Mont Blanc ! I never thought about the Grand Canyon, but looks like it's a MUST. I've also added to my list Verona and Italy in general. A good friend of mine, an Italian lady that lived in Chile for 12 years has just returned to Italy saying that it's such a beautiful country that sooner or later everybody wants to go back. Must be true.
oh...Valkenburg. I drove all the way from Cologne to Maastricht and I haven't stopped in Valkenburg.... if only I'd knew it was so nice.
Keep posting, keep inspiring each other ;-)

What a lovely thing to do. My favourite place would have to be Kuredu in the Maldives and I will never forget the jaw dropping experience when I stepped off the plane and saw the beautiful turquoise waters.

What a great thread as for few minutes we are each taken back to a beautiful and often magical moment in our lives (no disrespect meant to the ladies who have lost someone).

I really can't pick the one place but for a few minutes I've enjoyed remembering all the beautiful places while trying to think of 'the one'.

Taking a departed loved one to a place they have always wanted to vist is a fitting thing to do and I love your idea Liesa.

I left a little piece of my heart in Sri Lanka as a teenager and hope one day to return. Beautiful country and some of the most beautiful people I have ever met.

Hi Even welcome to the site - just wondered if you are going to put a photo so that we can see who you are instead of the back of your head ? it is much easier to make friendships as we are guarded about getting into communication with people whose identity is not clear

Ana community guide will help you if you are finding it tricky

Thanks have fun on the site Michelle
