I'm sort of interest Maxie. I live in Central London and have done for 24 years so it would be a sort of Busman's break for me, but I would certainly join any ladies for all the activites/meals/bars. I would be happy to help with any suggestions of things to do. Also worth remembering........ Liesa posted a thread today about Lastminute.com Secret Hotels, which is the way to go if you are planning on staying in a hotel.

Quite a nice thing to do in London during the day is a historical treasure hunt. You see a lot of London, you learn a lot, it's fun (especially if you make it competative with a prize) and you get to stop off at a few watering holes along the way (perhaps theme it say around famous writers and their homes/favourite pubs as an example).

I would be interested in a day up in London in the New Year, easy on what we do but if anyone was interested a friend of mine went on Street Art Tour a couple of weeks ago which looked like something a bit different. Maybe not everyones cup of tea but could be different?

Wow Justine - great link. I need to open up my eyes more and remember to spend more time look left to right when I'm walking around London. I'm missing all this free street art.

Thank you girls for all your interest. As I will be travelling from the Isle of Man and will book flights fairly soon to get the best deal please don't leave me standing at Victoria Station on my onsome...LOL OK. I'll look at some dates and put them up and see what happens. I always try to catch the theatre when I visit and I'll obviously spend some time with my son so if the theatre suits some that would be great. Be in touch.

Hi there
I would be interested in meeting up for the weekend - I live in London so might not take advantage of the accommodation bit of the weekend - but would love to take part in the rest!

Maybe you girls that live in London could organise a nice place for an evening meal or a very very long boozy lunch. Hark at me, I don't even drink but I'm sure lots of you might. It will be something to look forward to in the New Year.

Where to start with dining choices in London.......... here are a few off the top of my head (picked them because each has something a little special about it and I've eaten in them all:

Lunch - Gordons in Embankment/Charing Cross and the oldest wine bar in London (just click on the pictures tab to see inside as it's amazing - you are eating underground) http://www.gordonswinebar.com/default.php

Lunch - La Perla in Covent Garden (Mexican and cocktails) http://www.cafepacifico-laperla.com/lpco.html

Lunch - Balans in Soho (good all round choice and great for people watching) http://www.balans.co.uk/site/index.php/london/soho/

Dinner - Sarastro in Covent Garden (dine in little balcony boxes - its just like being in the Royal Box at the opera and if you are lucky a waiter will sing opera to you) http://www.sarastro-restaurant.com/index.php

Dinner - Kettners in Soho (one of the oldest restuarants in London, very decandent but good prices and live pianist most evenings) http://www.kettners.com/home/

Dinner - Floridita in Wardour Street Soho - (Cuban and Latin American dishes, live music, great ready to salsa) http://www.floriditalondon.com/

I hope these suggestions appeal as a starting point.

Yes Browns is also a good lunch venue - there are a choice of two in Central London, Mayfair and Covent Garden and both are nice.

Another couple of nice restaurants are Pierre Victoire and its sister restaurant Prix Fixe. Both are in Soho. They are not huge restaurants but could cater for the 6-8 group range maybe.

I am on holiday week commencing Monday 4th March until Thursday 14th so could do either mid-week or week-end. Those of you who indicated an interest keep in touch and we will organise something after the New Year. Hope you all have a great Xmas.

Well Saturday 9th could work for me. I would fly over on the Friday and then I would probably meet up with my son on the Sunday. obviously for me I can't leave it to the last minute as I will end up paying a fortune for flights, so if there is anyone wanting to think about Fri/Sat or even the Thurs/fri/sat let me know.

London is Calling....... :-)
