I need to renew my annual insurance and wondered if anyone has views on which firms are offering good cover for a sensbile price. It is so difficult to compare policies despite all the sites offering comparisons. I usually go with InsureandGo Jill

Hi Jill, hope you're well?

I also use Insure and Go and have done for the last few years. I shop around for quotes but they always tick all my boxes and have even price matched in the past if not come in cheaper.

Insurance used to be a doggle for me until I got to certain ages!
It goes up with bumps at 60, 65 & 70 as I have found to my cost! It came as such a shock to me!
Also my late husband was 10 years older & it was going to cost as much as the cruise to insure him on our last holiday so we went with just basic insurance for him & his health wasn't covered! Thank goodness nothing happened!
Its so annoying as when you you have time to holiday but are on limited funds, they hit you with outragous insurance costs.
At present I have Age UK annual ins, a present from one of my daughters for my 70th birthday. (My best present, I might add)

Hi Jill I used go compare and Virgin travel was the best at the time taking all the excess into account - the cheaper the insurance sometimes means bigger excesses so this is something i watch for.

I renewed again this year with them - but not sure about the wider market place bye M

I have annual with Insure & Go which also covers my fairly minor pre-existing medical for not too much more.

I have got insurance in the past for my mother (84), once with EHIC plus which gives cover on top of that you get with the EHIC card but expects you to use that first, it was very reasonable, also we got a week in Europe for her through Easyjet for approx £13 which was amazing compared to some quotes of over £100!

Teddie, don't forget a lot of bank accounts now offer you travel insurance as part of your bank account package (usually accounts which you pay a monthly fee for).

That is correct and I know Nationwide also do, so it might be worth opening an account with them

l have Barclays additions plus package which covers all holidays. When l broke my wrist on a cruiseship, long story but the bill on the ship and Madeira hospital came to over £5000 !! ( two operations ). However Barclays paid up within three weeks of my arriving home - l can thoroughly recommend them,,

Thanks everyone and good advice. I have number of accounts so will check them out. As I hope to visit USA, need to ensure correct level of cover. Jill
