North Korea. The nuclear test today brought North Korea back into the spotlight. Since the country opened up to foreign tourists, only 3000 curious westerners visit the country every year. Have you been there? Has anybody been to a country highly controlled by its government? What is it like? Would you go ?
Interesting topic Ana.
It's not somewhere ive ever thought of going but this nuclear testing malarchy doesn't sit comfortably with me, they've been a closed shop for years and it makes me very dubious of their underhanded-ness, perhaps this is what puts me off, I don't know.
I've got friends who live in New Malden which boasts the largest Korean community in Europe, approx 20,000, where many have settled.
However, some of the Korean restaurants I've been to and their markets are very good.

I am fascinated by the place and would love to visit but worried I might find conforming difficult! I went to Albania a couple of years back as wanted to see what a country that had been cut off for so long was like, unfortunately most traces of the dictatorship had disappeared, on the way there by train I visited a number of former communist countries that had also been occupied by Nazis - made me glad I live in UK and never had to live under one of those regimes.
