Hi, I have been to both Piraeus and Izmir but afraid I just passed through on my way to Ephesus and Athens, which were both so wonderful that they eclipsed any memories of the ports!! I went on the cruise ships own trips so was escorted everywhere, which is what I love at this stage of my life! So sorry no real info about the ports.

Hi Michelle, I really loved Ephesus and was so stunned by it, a huge ruined Roman city. They even put on an outdoor play for us in the original theatre. I think I mentioned this place in one of the first travel guides that I put on, ages ago. Its called First cruise for 2 retired ladies, I think! Very original! It is so worth going too but was a fair way from the port.
Hope your Xmas went alright.
