I have been in a road accident and now recuperating so not sure if I can meet you on 9th January. No responses on here so it sounds like it would only be the two of us.

Might be able to get a taxi (not far from my house) and hobble into the hotel on 9th but would need to leave it open.

I can still make the meeting if you are definitely up to hobbling. Sue from Newquay has also sent me a message, so hopefully she will be able to make it as well. No news from the others, I guess. The site does get a it frustrating at times.

Predictably people's availability for the 2 suggested dates is mixed. I’m reluctant to keep trying to find a date that everyone can make as I think that is something which will become ever more difficult as the year progresses and we start travelling!

I know that Yvonne (Happy Traveller) and Karen (Karenmurrell) can only make Saturday 6th and not 20th. Cariad (Cariad1) can do both dates as I can. I know Diana (DianaB) can’t make the 6th but can make 20th. I haven’t heard from Susan (Ellie1), Penny (Pennysom), Villager, and kshtravel which date is convenient, which perhaps means that both are?
Let’s go ahead with next Saturday, 6th at the Devon Hotel at 1 p.m. Could you confirm via this site or to me at

that you are still planning to come? I’d hate to be sitting there on my own!

I also suggest that we keep 20 February free as a back-up date. We can review whether to also use that date for those, like Diana, who definitely can’t make next Saturday.

The directions are:
A38 from Plymouth/Torquay A38 from Plymouth/Torquay onto the Devon Expressway. Just after you reach the bottom take the slip road signposted for Marsh Barton and Exeter A379. Follow that road to the next roundabout and the Devon Hotel is on your right.
M5 South Bound, come off at Junction 30. Stay in the middle lane following the signs for Exeter. Follow the road under the Motorway and go into the left-hand lane taking the next road off following the signs for Exeter City Centre and Dawlish. Keep on the duel carriageway and take the 2nd slip road linking you to another dual carrageway to the Countess Wear Roundabout. Go straight across the roundabout. Bear off right following signs for Plymouth and Torquay carrying on the duel carriageway and the Devon Hotel is on the left-hand side at the next roundabout.

I have booked a table at the Devon Hotel, Matford, Exeter for 1 pm this Saturday (6th). We definitely have me, Yvonne, Karen and Cariad (hopefully), and Diana is making a big effort and will also be there.

To find us - look for Diana's crutches! That should make it easy. Anyone not mentioned in the above list is still welcome to join us. I have booked some spare places on the table just in case.
