Anyone Fancy Meeting up in Devon

Hi, my name's Diana, and I've just joined this site. Haven't completed a profile yet - but would like to meet new friends, potential travel companions - and thought meeting up with others in the area would be a lovely idea - maybe a companion or two who might like to share beach, city outings, walks in the lovely Devon area - just dipping my toe in before I jump in and immerse myself.
I live in Exeter by the way, I'm single, a very young 57 so please write to me if you're interested!

Welcome to T&L being a new member myself. I would be interested in travelling down from Bristol if you get a meeting together. I have posted to get a meeting together in the Bristol area but had no response. I am a young 71 and enjoy travelling very much, have just returned from a wedding in Antigua and 2 weeks touring South Africa in February. Still trying to find my way around this site, so if you do get a meeting together plse contact me again.

Hi, I fancy meeting up, I am in Dartington but will be away for the next month approx working out of the country, back 8th June. As everyone's given their age I'm 44 by the way!!
Great Cariad. We've got four of us now and I am sure we can arrange something for after June 8th.
Any ideas everyone for a good base - from Crediton, Bristol and Dartington? I'm thinking Exeter may be a good idea - and not just because I live there :).
If I can get some optional dates from everyone - mid-late June we could begin to organise something!

Well the group is growing! In response to dates - 19/20/21st June sounds good and as for where............putting my thinking cap on. Do we want to meet for coffee or lunch. Maybe a pub nearby Exeter? Best to keep out the centre I would suggest so need to consider somewhere we can all access easily. Look forward to hearing more.

Saturday 21st June suit everyone? I was thinking about the Devon Hotel on the outskirts of Exeter - easy to access and park - plus good bar lunch and snacks! I can send directions - about 15 mins from M5, just off A38 for everyone else and avoids city centre parking and probs etc. We could all meet about 11.30 or 12.00. What do you all think?

Saturday sounds fine and the venue ok but just one thing Saturday is 20th June. Am I right or am I having another senior moment!!! I would not have thought you meant 21st as Sunday would be particularly busy with Sunday lunches etc.

Looks like there will be seven of us to date - I emailed everyone separately in Devon to find some more members who might not log into T&L on a regular basis. Good job I'm a fast typist still. So now we have two more joining us. I'm putting a little teddy on the table (naff I know but all l can think of right now) and hope the place isn't too busy. I might reserve a table - in fact I will reserve a table.

thanks for keeping me posted with regards to the meeting. however I feel it is much too far for me to come as much as I would like to meet you all. I do not think you will miss one 71year old anyway.

That's a shame Barbara but I do understand the distance as my daughter lives in Bristol and it can be a bit of a trek - age makes no difference I am sure we would have all enjoyed meeting you and I will pass my request onto the others!

Sorry for the delay in putting up this post.
A good time was had by all at our first Devon meet up. There were only five of us but we enjoyed our time together and it would be good to have more of them. I am hoping to get a photo to add to this and will need to send it to the organisers to post up for me.
A couple of extra people have asked if there will be any more meetings. I think this would be great and, unfortunately, because I work full time I am asking if anyone here would like to organise the next meeting.
It can be at the same venue, the Devon Hotel, Exeter or somewhere different. I simply don't have the time and energy right now but will be happy to attend!
I am pleased I got the ball rolling so any takers? Maybe a meeting in August?

Hello, I've only just joined within the last week and am stumbling around this site. Not very techno minded. I was amused by DianaB's last comments about organising another meeting for T & L Devon Members. Have no idea what a thread is but how about just going for a date and I would suggest Saturday 5th September, same time, same venue. I'll bring the teddy!

By the way a 'thread' is a follow on series of posts after the original. Can't believe I know that either! Maybe it's not accurate and another explanation will follow!
