For a while I've had a bee in my bonnet about going to Burma somehow, and I think this may be the year. I've looked at tours eg Shoestring but they all seem to be a bit beyond my budget (and I'd like it to be a bit less regimented).
What I'd like to do is fly to Burma, probably Rangoon (Yangon) and then do some exploring, ideally for a few weeks. There are loads of places I want to go, but particularly Mandalay (such romance in that name!) and Pagan. I'm totally open to suggestions for other places. Accommodation would probs be hostels or budget hotels, I'd like to keep costs as low as possible (within reason).
I'll probably be finishing my current job and moving out of my flat in August this year, so ideally I'd be starting sometime after that.
I'd like to find a companion or two to join me on this adventure! I'm not fussed about ages particularly (I'm 23), but it would be lovely to find someone who likes the same kind of travel I do (cheap, safe as possible, interesting).
I'm also considering finding somewhere to volunteer in Burma for a bit as well / instead.
