How the world has changed in the last few weeks. Until recently, Corona was just a beer sipped in the sun, social distancing sounded like a positive lifestyle choice for introverts and we talked about the weather more than we did about loo roll. These are distressing times for everyone, including you, our club members, who thrive on planning trips and meetups, finding travel buddies and sharing travel experiences.
We know that Coronavirus has affected your travel plans. Maybe you are stuck somewhere in this world, or maybe you feel a bit lonely right now. Wherever you are, we are here to listen to you and help lift your spirits. Please keep in touch with us and other members of the club through the Forum discussions and Facebook group.
Keep us up to date with what is happening near you. Tell us how you are feeling – mentally as well as physically. And if you hear of acts of kindness and any interesting things we can do at home to help keep boredom at bay, please do share them with the community. We will come together to lift our spirits and keep the travel dream alive.
“It is in times like this that we become aware that we are a worldwide community all facing the same challenges.”
It is in times like this that we become aware that we are a worldwide community all facing the same challenges. We can’t yet know the full impact of COVID-19 on the economy or on physical and mental health, but we do know that awareness, taking sensible precautions and caring for one another will help us get through this more easily.
We are therefore going to change our newsletters and share more uplifting content to help us navigate the corona-storm together. Armchair travel is alive and well. Museums are offering virtual tours, the Metropolitan opera is offering free screenings, you can download books for free, online classes.
“Travel and Friendship connect the world. They are at the heart of what we do at Thelma & Louise and in times like this, connection is more important than ever.”
Travel and Friendship connect the world. They are at the heart of what we do at Thelma & Louise and in times like this, connection is more important than ever. Let’s focus on our favourite travel memories and stories, on our future travel dreams and aspirations, and keep each other informed and uplifted.
Let’s stand together as the worldwide community that we are!
We hope that you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.
