This week we talk to Emily from Thisisnotaguidebook.com about long distance hiking and cycling on tiny budgets. Emily is not yet 30 but her love and determination to travel is a real inspiration. In 2012 she hiked the 2,200 miles Appalachian Mountain Trail in North America, she cycled The Golden Circle in Iceland and from Olympia, Washington 900 miles down to San Francisco on the Pacific Coast.

She manages to do all this on a meagre budget of $10 a day! How does she make it work? Every time she sees something that she would like to buy, she ask herself where would that equivalent money take her. Travelling on a budget is all about setting priorities and the determination to work within them.
